The man who ambushed a Philadelphia Police officer 'in the name of ISIS' two years ago, shooting him as he sit in his patrol car in West Philadelphia, has been found guilty. Edward Archer was found guilty of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and other charges. The jury deliberated for less than three hours. The attack happened on January 7th, 2016. Officer Jesse Hartnett was parked at 60th and Spruce Streets. Surveillance video showed Archer charge at the cruiser, firing 13 shots. Hartnett's left arm was shattered by three of those shots. He managed to return fire, chase down, and place Archer into custody. In a taped confession, Archer told investigators he pledged his allegiance to the Islamic State. In court he said he would not 'plead to anyone but Allah.' Authorities could not find any ties to a terrorist organization. Sentencing has been scheduled for May 14. He faces decades in prison.

The University of Pennsylvania announced on Thursday that it has decided to revoke honorary degrees awarded to casino mogul Steve Wynn and entertainer Bill Cosby in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against them. Wynn's name will also be removed from a campus plaza and a scholarship fund. School president Amy Gutmann and Chair of the Board of Trustees David Cohen said, "It is incumbent on all of us to address these issues wherever and whenever we find that they affect our extended community." This is a departure for the university, who hasn't rescinded an honorary in over a century. Recently, the Ivy League school has even acknowledged Cosby's behavior as "deeply troubling" but didn't act because it wasn't their practice to remove degrees. Cosby's retrial is scheduled for April. Wynn denies all recent allegations.

The Philadelphia judge who sentenced rapper Meek Mill to prison after violating his probation last fall has hired a lawyer of her own and is threatening to sue for defamation. Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley has apparently hired Attorney A. Charles Peruto Jr. Peruot is saying that Mills' legal team has been making baseless claims in the media about the judge's personal and professional conduct ever since the sentencing. Attorney Joe Tacopina, who represents Mill, says that their legal team is looking forward to the defamation suit. Meek Mill was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison following a number of probation violations stemming from a 2009 drug and gun case.
