Philadelphia's new district attorney Larry Krasner has created a new position in the DA's officer that will protect immigrants trying to navigate the criminal justice system. The DA's office says that the new position will help people move through the system without facing "disproportionate consequences" due to their status. Former immigration attorney Caleb U. Arnold was named to the position. Krasner stated in his campaign that he vowed to stop President Trump's immigration agenda.

It's a tradition for the mayors of the competing teams in the Super Bowl to have a friendly bet on the outcome of the game. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenny and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh have agreed to a bet after seeing each other at the US Conference of Mayors this week. Both mayors have a "Rocky" statue in their city. Boston has a statue of famous boxer Rocky Marciano and of course Philadelphia has the Rocky Balboa statue. The bet is, the Rocky statue in the losing city has to wear the winning team's apparel.

Pennsylvania Republican Congressman, Pat Meehan, who is accused of settling a former aide's sexual harassment complaint with taxpayer money, informed party and campaign officials that he will not seek re-election. This decision comes about after officials had begun to search for a replacement candidate. The complaint and settlement from a former aide who is three decades younger than 62-year-old Meehan came to light on January 20th. Meehan said in a statement: "Unfortunately, recent events concerning my office and the settlement of certain harassment allegations have become a major distraction, I need to own it because it is my own conduct that fueled the matter." Meehan is the 5th member of Congress to resign or state they are not running again due to a sexual misconduct claim.
