A car crashed into the icy Delaware River in Burlington City, New Jersey on Sunday afternoon leaving the female passenger dead and the male driver in police custody. It happened around 1 p.m. on the 100 block of Riverbank Road near Wood Street. The car was speeding down the road when it hit a parked minivan and then went over the river wall. The male driver was able to get out and fled the scene on foot. The female passenger was eventually rescued by first responders. She was taken to Lourdes Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The driver was eventually caught and also taken to Lourdes for evaluation. No charges have been filed yet. The identifications of either parties have not been released.

A man was shot and critically wounded by a highway patrol officer in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood late Saturday when the man pulled a gun during a traffic stop. It happened during a routine traffic stop on the 2800 block of Kensington Avenue near Somerset Street. Police pulled over a vehicle for going the wrong way down the one way Hart Lane. One officer talked to the driver, a 26-year-old man, while another questioned the passenger, a 22-year-old man. The second officer noticed a "bulge" in the passenger's waist band and determined it was a gun after patting him down. The officer drew his weapon. The passenger got out of the vehicle and pulled the gun from his waistband. The officer fired once and missed. Another officer arrived and saw the passenger holding the gun. He fired four times, hitting the suspect in the torso and face. The passenger was arrested and taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. The driver has not been charged.

Former Villanova basketball star and native Philadelphian, Kyle Lowry, has committed $1 million to his alma mater. The donation is part of Villanova University’s capital campaign, "For the Greater Great: The Villanova Campaign to Ignite Change" launched in 2013. Lowry is from Philadelphia and played at Cardinal Dougherty High School. He played two seasons on the Main Line before being drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2006. He is currently with the Toronto Raptors. He's a 3-time All Star and has an Olympic Gold Medal from 2016. The donation is the single largest from any former Villanova basketball player and in turn the school will name the home locker room in the renovated pavilion the "Kyle Lowry Men’s Basketball Locker Room." "On behalf of the Lowry family--Karter, Kameron, Ayahna and myself--we are honored to be able to have this opportunity to give back to Villanova University in this form," Lowry said. "We are very excited about the `Kyle Lowry locker room'." Kyle will also be honored with the Native Son award at the annualy Philadelphia Sports Writers Association banquet on Monday night. The Raptors play the 76ers on Monday afternoon.
