Longtime defense and civil rights attorney, Larry Krasner, was sworn in today as Philadelphia's new District Attorney. He took his oath of office on Tuesday in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center. Krasner has promised to make changes in the justice system. Specifically he looks to reform and eventually eliminate the cash bail system, reduce mass incarceration, stop seeking the death penalty, and provide treatment for addicts. Krasner has received sharp criticism from the Fraternal Order of Police and local police calling him soft on crime. Krasner was elected last year as former DA Seth Williams decided not to run for another term amidst his corruption trial. Williams eventually pled guilty to one count of felony bribery and is serving 5 years in prison. Kelley Hodge had been acting in the post as DA since July.

Rebecca Rhynhart was also sworn in as the city's first female controller. She defeated three term incumbent Alan Butkowitz in a suprise Democratic primary last spring. She has plans to look at the Department of Behavioral Health, the Sheriff's Office and the Philadelphia Parking Authority.

A trash truck overturned in Montgomery County this morning and killed a person. It happened around 10 a.m. on Hagys Mill Road near Johns Lane in Whitemarsh Township. The driver of the garbage truck lost control and it flipped over on its side onto a person. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is no stranger to sharing on social media. He posts frequently not only about football, but also about hunting, his faith, and his AO1 foundation. Yesterday, Wentz posted photos of his hunting dog Henley, one as a pup and one now at 5-years-old sitting behind some geese on a hunting trip. One user commented that the picture of the dead geese could offend some people. Carson quickly responded saying that he talks about what's he's passionate about and that won't change.
