  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA

The Delaware Valley is expected to get the first snowfall of the season late Friday night and through the day on Saturday. A Winter Weather Watch has been issued for South Jersey and a Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect for along the I-95 corridor from 1 a.m. Sat. December 9th to 1 a.m. Sun. December 10th. This storm will not be a particularly strong storm, but it will bring accumulating snow across the area. South Jersey can expect 3-6" while areas around Philadelphia could see 2-4". Most of it will only be on grassy surfaces. Further north and west may only get a coating to an inch. Still use caution when driving on Saturday and plan extra time if out shopping or enjoying other holiday plans.

UPDATE: The Winter Weather Watch for South Jersey and Delaware has been upgraded to a Winter Weather Warning.

A driver was killed in a freak accident this morning on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Montgomery County. It happened after 9 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 355.6 after the Mid-County Interchange. The driver has been identified as 57-year-old Gregory Leiber. Police say that a tractor-trailer traveling westbound hit debris in the roadway sending it in the air. The debris then went through the driver side windshield of a black Lincoln SUV traveling eastbound leaving a large hole. It hit Leiber in the head, killing him. He then lost control of the vehicle and crashed. Leiber was pronounced dead at the scene. Traffic was backed up for hours as officials investigated, but it has since cleared. Authorities are searching for that truck. The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators have determined where last month's deadly fire at a senior living community in Chester County started. A spokeswoman for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said that the fire broke out in a covered outdoor patio behind one of the facility's buildings. The fire happened on November 16th at the Barclay Friends Senior Center in West Chester. Four people were killed, over two dozen injured, and 133 residents were displaced. Investigators have not yet determined an exact origin or cause of the fire, but have ruled out arson and foul play. The ATF spokeswoman said they believe the fire was "purely accidental" and that they will release more details next week. "It is the collective opinion of the fire scene investigators that the fire did indeed originate on the exterior of the building, in the area of a covered patio at the rear of the south wing of the Woolman building; however, the exact point of origin, as well as the cause of the fire is still under investigation," said an ATF spokesperson in a statement released Friday.

This afternoon, Cloudy, temperatures in the upper 30s in Center City.
