New Jersey officials have announced the arrests of dozens of child predators after a 9-month long operation. Attorney General Christopher Porrino said that 79 individuals have been arrested and charged with various crimes ranging from sexual assault to possession of child pornography. The operation was called Operation Safety Net. The men range in age from 17 to 74 and include a Trenton police officer, piano teacher, IT professional, a camp counselor, a youth minister, and more. Ten of the offenders are so called "hands-on" by attempting to lure victims on and off line or by actually making contact. The others were charged variably with possession and distribution of child pornography. Detectives working for the DA's office used their new K-9 officer 'Mega' in many of the searches. Mega is the only dog in the country trained to search for hidden electronics like computers, hard drives, and flash drives that a predator may have stashed away containing photos and videos. The IT professional allegedly had 138,000 files, and probably more. Safety Net 10 poster | Safety Net 69 poster

Two Bucks County parents have been sentenced for the neglect of their three children. 44-year-olds William Medl and Kimberly Block of Levittown were sentenced to three to seven years in state prison. Last December, Investigators say that police and social workers discovered the family living a "nomadic existence." The couple fell into debt because of drug addiction and lost their home. The children, two girls, 7 and 8, and a boy, 2, were filthy and hungry. They had to have their heads shaved because of lice. The girls did not know their last name and have never been to school. The boy could not talk only gesture. A dentist extracted 31 teeth between the trio due to decay. The older ones described trips into the city and being left alone in the car while their parents purchased "adult medicine." They also described watching them using the drugs in the car. Officials say it will take some time before they are acclimated and caught up in school.

A thirs person was also injured. The highway was shutdown for hours but reopened in the mid afternoon. No word on what caused the crash.
