Officials in Delaware County are now investigating a deadly train accident that took place in Norwood. The incident took place at around 4:30 pm on Thursday on the unit block of West Winona Street. Officials have stated that a pedestrian was struck and killed by an oncoming Amtrak train. SEPTA had to suspend service on the Wilmington Line while police investigated the scene. Service has since resumed on the line, but police are continuing an investigation.

Philadelphia Police are now on the hunt for a prisoner who escaped from Temple Hospital on Thursday afternoon. 46-year-old Alex Alvarado was arrested this past Wednesday on charges related to a stolen car. Police say that he escaped police custody from the hospital at around 1 pm on Thursday. Alvarado is described as a black male, around 5' 6", 170 pounds and with multiple tattoos on his arms. Anyone with information of his whereabouts is asked to contact police.

John B. Elementary School in Germantown will remain closed on Friday to continue the clean up of mold that was discovered in several classrooms in the school. The Philadelphia School District stated the mold was caused by complications with the school's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Workers began to remove the mold from the school on Wednesday and have currently completed 80% of the clean up. The school has stated that it will not reopen it's doors until the building is 100% free of the mold problem.
