Shots Fired At Drexel Hill Home; Philly School District Changes

Police are now investigating after shots were fired into a Drexel Hill home on Wednesday night. The incident took place at around 10 pm on the 200 block of Wilde Avenue. The homeowner and three other family members were sitting in their home when shots were fired at the house. Luckily no one was hit by any of the bullets, but one of the family members was cut by a flying piece of glass. The homeowner has stated that he is very confused by why someone would attack them, since their neighborhood has always been a quiet area. Officials are continuing their investigation into the shooting.

The Philadelphia School District is planning to move one school to share a building with another school and that is sparking controversy in the Spring Garden section. The plan is to relocate the Science Leadership Academy from its location on 22nd and Arch, to the redeveloped Ben Franklin High School located on North Broad. School District Officials say that the SLA is moving due to losing its lease. It will now share space with Ben Franklin High School. Parents at SLA have expressed concern about this transition because Ben Franklin High School has been known to have history of violence, even though it has made great improvements as of late. Officials believe that even though the groups of students may be different, they believe they should get along fine. The move will be completed in the Fall of 2019.
