Charges have been filed against a woman who drove a SUV through a South Philadelphia block party on Labor Day injuring nine people. 22-year-old Monique McKnight has been charged with nine counts of Aggravated Assault, Driving Under the Influence and related offenses. It happened around 4:15 p.m. on the 1500 block of Ringold Street in Point Breeze. McKnight drove past a parked car blocking off the street, through yellow tape, and down the sidewalk. She struck a crowd of people including children, elderly, and a pregnant woman. Nine injured were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. McKnight remained at the scene and told authorities that her brakes had failed. She was taken into custody.

The Upper Darby Police Department is looking for information after two emaciated dogs were found in Penn Pines Park on Monday. The young pit bulls were discovered by a passerby who called 911. It is believed they were not only used for fighting as evidenced by their many scars but also beaten. The two dogs are now being cared for at Justice Rescue and have been named Gracie and Layla. There is a $1200 reward for information.

56 students were cited for underage drinking this past weekend by Bethlehem police at an off-campus party at Lehigh University. Several hundred people were at neighboring homes when police busted the party around 1 a.m. Saturday. The school is cracking down on excessive drinking this year after 4 students almost died last year from alcohol poisoning. So far, two fraternities have been temporarily suspended and two others have been warned. Bethlehem police are also making additional patrols and have fielded numerous complaints already this year from residents.
