A water main break caused a large sinkhole to form in King of Prussia this morning. It happened around 7 a.m. on Shaffer Road near Dekalb Pike (Route 202 northbound). A 12-inch water main broke creating the hole which swallowed parts of the street, sidewalk, and grassy area. Several street signs also disappeared as the hole filled with water. Aqua shut off the water to customers on the 100 block of Shaffer Road in between Dekalb and Kingwood.

Workers at a Family Dollar store in Philadelphia's Mayfair neighborhood were tied up and robbed at gunpoint on Monday night. The store is located on the 7300 block of Frankford Avenue. It happened just after 11 p.m. as employees were closing up for the night. Police say the suspect hid in the store until closing time. They were tied up with zip ties and locked in the bathroom. The suspect made off with $5,000 cash and some cell phones. He left through a rear door. The employees were eventually able to free themselves. None of them were seriously injured.

The Association of Catholic School Teachers, Local 1776 (ACT) voted on Tuesday morning to approve a new contract for full-time, lay high school teachers in the 17 Philadelphia Archdiocesan high schools. 600 Catholic teachers voted at a union hall along Penn's Landing this morning. The vote was 388 yes, 164 no. The contract will only last one year. Teachers will receive a $1,200 increase in salary across the board. There will also be no increase in cost for medical coverage for the 2017-2018 school year. Additional professional development days and opportunities for coaching/mentoring will also be added. Approximately 13,000 students attend these high schools. The agreement will allow teachers to report to work on the first day of classes tomorrow, Wednesday, September 6th.
