Philadelphia actor and comedian Kevin Hart has called out fellow celebrities friends to participate in a Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge. The entertainer posted a video on Instagram and pledged to give $25,000 to relief efforts. The storm continues to dump massive amounts of rain on southeastern parts of Texas and will slowly move towards Louisiana over the next few days. The Houston area is already covered in record floods with heavy rain expected to continue. Hart called out Chris Rock, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Justin Timberlake, Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle, and Steve Harvey to join him in donating and spreading the challenge.

A Philadelphia judge has ruled that the city's police union can challenge the release of an officer's name if they are involved in a shooting. The current policy, implemented two years ago, is to release the names of those cops involved in a shooting within 72 hours. The Fraternal Order of Police argued that is not enough time to investigate an incident and that names should be withheld until investigations are completed. FOP President John McNesby was motivated by an event last week when protestors gathered outside the home of an officer who was involved in a shooting.

A 2-year-old girl fatally injured herself after being left unattended in a car seat for hours over the weekend. Her mother, Deana Joseph, was high on drugs in the car at the time. She eventually called 911. Salem County Prosecutor John Lenahan says the child was found in the car which was still running and parked in the driveway of Joseph's home in Alloway, NJ. On Saturday night. The exact cause of death is pending an autopsy. This is the third time since 2008 that Joseph has been arrested for child neglect because of drug use. She has been charged with second-degree child endangerment.

Sports
The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they will retire former captain Eric Lindros' number 88. The ceremony will be held before the game on January 18th against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Wells Fargo Center. Lindros played for the Flyers from 1992-2000 recording 290 goals and 369 assists. The 659 point total is fifth on the all time franchise list. He was a 6-time All Star and won the NHL MVP Hart Trophy in the 1994-95 season.
