President Donald Trump returned to the White House on Monday and spoke more specifically in his condemnation of the violence and attack that killed one and injured 19 in Charlottesville, VA over the weekend. "Racism is evil," Mr. Trump said. "And those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the K.K.K., neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans." 20-year-old James Alex Fields Jr. was arrested and charged with second degree murder and other offenses after driving into a crowd of demonstrators on Saturday afternoon. Bond was not set today at a preliminary hearing. The public defender's office recused itself from representing Fields because a relative of the office was injured in the attack. Another attorney will be appointed and a new hearing is set for August 25th. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said that the deadly action of Fields "does meet the definition of domestic terrorism in our statute." He said, "You can be sure we will charge and advance the investigation towards the most serious charges that can be brought, because this is an unequivocally unacceptable and evil attack that cannot be accepted in America."

Police are investigating after a couple was found dead in their apartment in South Philadelphia late Sunday night. The pair were found on the 1300 block of Federal Street around 11:45 p.m by a relative who lives on the second floor. 50-year-old Candido Gonzalez was found on the bathroom floor. His 23-year-old girlfriend Kate was found in the living room. They both had bruising to the face and were laying in a pool of blood. The house had been ransacked but there were no signs of forced entry. Homicide detectives and members of the Crime Scene Unit were on the scene for hours talking to potential witnesses and collecting evidence. There is no word on a possible motive or suspects at this time.

Several people were injured this morning when a SEPTA bus collided with a passenger car in East Mount Airy. It happened around 11:30 a.m. at Stenton Avenue and East Gorgas Lane. Three people on the bus and one person in the car were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. No word on what caused the crash.
