Man Injured In Hit And Run; Boy Struck By Train; Coast Guard Search For Missing Woman

Police have now placed a suspect in custody after he injured a man in a hit and run accident in Center City. The incident took place at around 2:20 am on Broad street near Lombard Street. Police have stated that the driver hit the victim and then sped away, his car was later spotted by an officer at 13th and Catherine Streets. He was then placed into custody by police and are facing many charges. The victim who was struck was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

Delaware County officials are now investigating after an 8-year-old boy was struck by a train in Tinicum Township. The incident happened just after just after 6 pm near the tracks of the Clarion Hotel on the unit block of Industrial Highway. Police say that the boy's leg was run over by an oncoming train, he was then rushed to Corzer-Chester Medical Center, then transferred to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. There is still no word on the boy's condition.

The Coast Guard is now searching for a woman who went missing off of Point Pleasant Beach in New Jersey. Police say that the 24-year-old woman went missing at around 2:27 am while she was swimming with one of her friends. The Coast Guard has sent out water and air crew who to search for the swimmer. Anyone with information is asked to call Sector Delaware Bay (215-271-4940).

UPDATE: The body of a woman matching the description of the missing swimmer was pulled from the water in Lavallette, New Jersey on Sunday night. The woman was spotted by walkers on the beach around 11:50 p.m. Sunday. An autopsy will be performed to confirmed the identity of 24-year-old Zuzana Oravcova of Slovakia. She was swimming with 23-year-old Thomas Kadlec of Slovakia when she disappeared in the surf.


The Phillies play the Braves today at 12:35 pm.
