Allentown Mayor Edwin Pawlowski and former Reading Mayor Vaughn Spencer have been indicted on federal corruption charges for allegedly conducting pay-to-play schemes in their respective cities. They have been charged with multiple counts of bribery and fraud. They are accused of awarding city contracts and jobs or performing political favors for companies and individuals who donated to campaign funds or made other political contributions. The FBI began investigations in 2013 and charged several lower ranking officials and contractors. Eleven people pled guilty in that investigation. In 2015, the FBI raided city hall in both cities and the homes of both Pawlowski and Spencer. "Both indictments charge the mayors with wide-ranging corruption in the cities they had promised to serve with integrity. The indictments allege that the mayors repeatedly abused the trust of the citizens of Allentown and Reading by steering contracts and other work to companies and entities in exchange for political contributions," said acting United States Attorney Louis Lappen.

A Delaware man has been charged with his 5th DUI after crashing his moped while holding his 2-year-old son on his lap. 48-year-old Anthony Taglienti is charged with DUI, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Vehicular Assault 3rd, and Driving While Suspended or Revoked. It happened around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 19000 block of Golden Avenue in the Sea Air Mobile Home Park. Taglienti was driving a 2012 Puma moped with toddler son sitting on his lap when he lost control and they both fell to the ground. They boy suffered some abrasions, but otherwise had non life-threatening injuries. Taglienti also had minor injuries. They were both transported to Beebe Healthcare for treatment. After he was released, Taglienti was arraigned and sent to Sussex Correctional Institution on $17,200 cash bond.

A tense standoff situation this morning in Uwchlan Township ended peacefully. It started around 8:20 a.m. at a home on the 1000 block of Welsh Ayers Way. A large armored car with SWAT personnel was positioned outside the home. They could be seen talking to a man in a second floor window. It all began when a man called police and said that two armed intruders were holding his wife hostage. Eventually, police discovered that those claims were false and there were no intruders. The wife walked out of the house unharmed and the man climbed down a police ladder from that second floor window. He was placed into custody. The situation was declared under control around 11:40 a.m. Police say the man was experiencing a mental health issue.
