Police have now placed a suspect in custody after he stabbed a man and created a barricade situation in the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia on Monday. The incident took place on the 2500 block of North Stanley Street at around 4:20 pm. Police say that a 23-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the chest and was taken to Temple University Hospital for treatment. The suspect ran into a home along the block and started a barricade situation that lasted nearly 2 hours. The SWAT Team later apprehended the suspect after entering the house. Police are now investigating into what caused the stabbing.

A fire that occurred in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia turned into a drug investigation after responding crews found evidence. The fire took place on the 2900 block of Longshore Avenue at around 11:30 am on Monday. Fire crews put out the fire that started in home's basement. While putting it out they found evidence of synthetic marijuana being grown in the home. Police later obtained a search warrant to investigate further. No one was in the house during the fire and so far no arrests have been made.

A deal has now been reached in the New Jersey budget standoff to end the state government's shutdown. Democratic Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto announced at a news conference on Monday that they reached a deal of a $34.7 billion budget. This includes more that $300 million in Democratic spending priorities and will also overhaul the state's largest health insurer. Sweeney stated that Gov. Christie has approved of the deal which can lead to the reopening of the state parks and beaches closed by the government shutdown.
