Singer/guitarist Chris Cornell was found dead in a Detroit hotel room early Thursday morning. A representative called the death "sudden and unexpected." He had just finishing performing with Soundgarden at Detroit's Fox Theatre on Wednesday night. The medical examiner reported that Cornell killed himself by hanging. A full autopsy has not yet been completed. Cornell was 52-years-old. Cornell was a pillar in rock music known for his exceptional vocal range and tonal quality. He was at the heart of the alternative/grunge movement's rise in Seattle in the early 90's. Soundgarden formed in 1984 and gained breakthrough national success in 1994. Cornell was also a member of the one-off band Temple of the Dog with future members of Pearl Jam in 1991. He joined members of Rage Against the Machine to form Audioslave in 2001. Both Soundgarden and Audioslave garnered multiple Grammy nominations with Soundgarden winning twice.

A Philadelphia Police officer has been charged with multiple counts for allegedly firing at a civilian's car while off duty last year. It happened on May 31, 2016 on the 3500 block of North Broad Street. 43-year-old Officer Ross Scott was off duty while riding his motor cycle when he was cut off by another vehicle causing him to fall off the bike. Scott got up and fired at the car which fled. No one was injured in the incident. He is charged with four counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and possession of an instrument of crime. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross has suspended Scott, a nine year veteran, for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.

Video surveillance captures a car crashing into a Port Richmond corner store. The van was stolen and driven by an 18-year-old. It was speeding and had just collided head on with another car before slamming into the corner store. Sisters Anneliza Maoene and Genesis Tejada were working behind the counter of the store and were buried in debris from the crash. Genesis is also pregnant. They say they are ok and so is the baby. Watch the video below.
