Upper Darby Township is now one step closer to opening a medical marijuana dispensary in the township's Fernwood section. Chamounix Ventures Incorporated has now been given the go ahead to set up a medical marijuana dispensary at 622 Industrial Park Drive in Upper Darby. The application to open up the store has been approved, but now the company is still waiting on the license to sell medical marijuana. Pennsylvania is still in the process of accepting the applications.

Former Sixers player and Big 5 Hall of Famer Doug Overton was arrested over the weekend in Lower Merion Township in Montgomery County. 47-year-old Overton was placed into police custody after he had been brought in on charges of indecent exposure. He has since been released from custody after he posted his $10,000 bail. Overton is the current men's basketball coach at Lincoln University. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 9th in Narberth.

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a suspect slashed a woman while trying to steal her purse. The incident took place on the 100 block of South 60th Street last Thursday morning. Police have recovered surveillance footage that shows the suspect trying to slash the purse from the 41-year-old victim. The robber ended up slashing the woman's arm while trying to steal the purse, seriously injuring the victim. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. If anyone has any information about the suspect they are asked to contact Southwest Detectives.
