Police responded to the report of a shooting at a Wawa on Rt. 40 in Bear, DE. It happened after Noon on Wednesday on the 1600 block of Pulaski Highway near Salem Church Road. The shooting victim is a Delaware State Trooper. He was transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition. Multiple state and local agencies are on the scene. Authorities are looking for a suspect. No word on a motive or what led up to the shooting at this point.

UPDATE: One suspect is possibly in custody. Another may be barricaded in the Brick Mills section. All schools in the Appoquinimink School District in the Middletown, Delaware area are on lockdown. Parents are to stay away, students will not be dismissed until an all-clear is received.... The lockdown has been lifted.

UPDATE: Multiple agencies are on the scene of the 500 block of St. Michael's Drive in the Brick Mills Farm Development in Middletown, DE about 15 miles from the Wawa. A male suspect has refused to surrender and is firing shots at police. Residents are advised to stay inside. At 8:22 pm, the Explosives Ordinance Disposal Unit used a breeching charge on the front door, but they have not entered the home.

UPDATE 9:45pm: The Delaware State Trooper has died at the hospital from his injuries. He has been identified as 32-year-old Cpl./1 Stephen J. Ballard, an 8.5-year veteran of the Delaware State Police assigned to patrol at Troop 2, Glasgow.

UPDATE: "Around 4:00 a.m. this morning, Thursday April 27, 2017, officers once again came under fire from the suspect. Allied agencies explosively breached numerous windows but have not entered the residence. Multiple Special Operations Response Teams and Conflict Management Teams from allied police agencies are attempting to make contact with the male subject and are continuing to attempt to persuade him to surrender. Residents in the area remain evacuated.... There are no reported injuries."

UPDATE: The standoff in Middletown is now over. According to police, "At 9:17 a.m., the male suspect exited the residence and engaged police. The suspect was then shot by law enforcement. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:29 a.m."

A shopper at the Cherry Hill Mall says he was using a stall in the men's restroom when he noticed he was being watched and recorded. Jesse Slocum says that when he went to reach for toilet paper he saw the peeping tom's eye looking through an opening. He then noticed the man was holding a cell phone and recording. Slocum immediately started yelling at the man who then ran off. The Cherry Hill Police Department is looking at surveillance footage hoping to catch video of the man as he exited the restroom.

On Monday, police in Atlantic City, NJ, confiscated a large number of toy guns from a business on the Boardwalk. 62 imitation guns were taken from the Bags and Accessories store located at 1311 Boardwalk. The guns, advertised as BB guns, look and feel like real guns except for the orange tip which can be easily removed. A situation can become potentially dangerous if someone thinks you are carrying a real weapon, such as the police or an adversary, when you in fact just have a toy. Atlantic City passed an ordinance in 2014 prohibiting the sale of imitation or toy firearms. The owner of store was issued a city ordinance for the possession and sale of the firearms.
