Flyers Seal Third Straight Win; 2017 Philly Bike Race Canceled; Embiid Left Out Of All-Star Reserve

The Flyers were able to seal another victory Thursday night against the Maple Leafs beating them 2-1. Wayne Simmonds scored early on in the game to put a point up for the Flyers, and were tied with the Maple Leafs throughout the game. Flyers Roman Lyubimov scored another point with 2:37 left in the game to bring the Flyers above the Maple Leafs. This is the third straight win for The Flyers. Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth stopped 27 shots for the Flyers and held off an extra skater for the Maple Leafs in the final minute of the game. This is the third straight game won since the Flyers 10-game win streak in December.

The famous Philadelphia bike race held in Manayunk each year will not take place this summer for the first time since 1985. The officials of the Philadelphia International Cycling Classic stated that the race will "take a break" this year due to a lack of funding. Director Robin Morton stated "The decision did not come easy for the City of Philadelphia, we've been moving forward with plans for the race and changes to the course for months. We are keeping our hopes high for PICC to return next year." The race takes place each year from the Philadelphia Art Museum, then down Kelly Drive to Manayunk. Officials hope the race can continue in 2018.

The reserve players for the NBA All-Star game were announced on Thursday and Sixers rookie center Joel Embiid has been left out the roster. Embiid has been having an amazing rookie year, averaging 19.8 points per game, 7.9 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 2.1 assists all in just 25.3 minutes per game. Embiid took to twitter stating that again the popular vote did not matter at all in the choosing process. The reserves for the Eastern Conference are Kevin Love, John Wall, Paul George, Paul Millsap, Kyle Lowry and Kemba Walker.
