Parents at Washington High School in Northeast Philadelphia have expressed their outrage after an apparent fraud doctor gave some of their children physical exams. Many of the parents examined the school district documents and the physical exam forms, and found out that Dr. Renita Bey, who administered the physicals, was not a licensed doctor in Pennsylvania. The physical exams took place in June of last year. The parents realized that the medical identification number (999993) Bey used on the students physical form did not exist. The district has now stated new protocols and procedures are being put into place, so incidents like this will not happen again.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has created a controversial bill that has many business owners up in arms. Kenney proposed a bill that would prohibit employers from asking potential employees about their pay history to overcome past wage discrimination. The bill passed through city council unanimously, and a few weeks later many business owners complained saying that the city was going too far and intruding on their business practices. Upon the uproar of business owners, Mayor Kenney decided to postpone signing the bill, but he stated that the law department is still examining it and that he has his mind made up on the bill.
