Sixers Look To Resign Holiday; Gov. Christie Eagles Comment; Phillies Quinn To Start In Triple A

As the Sixers begin to pick up traction with new star center Joel Embiid, the team stated they are in need of a point guard to lead the team. According to an ESPN report, the team will be taking a "hard look" at former Sixer Jrue Holiday during the offseason when he becomes a free agent. Holiday was picked up by the Sixers in 2009 as a first-round draft pick, but during the 2013 season, ex-general manager Sam Hinkie traded Holiday for Nerlens Noel and a first round draft pick (Michael Carter-Williams). Although he has had various injuries in the past, Holiday has been performing well this season with the Pelicans, averaging 13.9 points per game, 3.4 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.2 steals. The Sixers also have the most cap salary space in the league giving them range to fit Holiday's salary.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has been taking some flak from Eagles fans for a comment he made about Eagles fans on New York's WFAN Boomer and Carton Show. Christie stated he had been honest since the day he ran for NJ Governor in 2009 that he was an Cowboys fan, which would dissatisfy most of his constituents (since many South Jersey citizens are Eagles fans and North Jersey citizens are Giants fans). "I understand why people are interested if you are a public figure, as to who you root for, they're interested. But the hostility, I will tell you that I take for being a Cowboys fan, and this is what I say to Giants fans all the time, and Eagles fans. Now Eagles fans I understand it from a little more because the Eagles do suck and they've sucked for a long time. And their fans are generally angry, awful people."

The Phillies have stated that top prospect Roman Quinn who had reached the major leagues back in September, will start the season off in Triple A for spring training. The decision comes along after the Phillies have signed star outfielder Michael Saunders earlier this week. The Phillies believe it would be more beneficial for Quinn's development to play everyday in Triple A rather than be benched in the majors. Phillies Manager Pete Mackanin stated "I don't think it's in our best interest or his for him to be a part-time player at the big-league level, if things stay the way they are and Saunders is on the team, I think it would behoove Quinn to play a full year at triple A." "We have to find out if he can play 140 games, which he hasn't done up to this point. We certainly hope he can because to me, he's a potential game-changer on the field."
