Sixers Victory Over Timberwolves, Embiid Eastern Rookie Of The Month, Dawkins Finalist In 2017 HOF

The Sixers were able to seal a 93-91 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday night after Robert Covington made a fall away shot off of an inbound pass with only 0.2 seconds on the clock. The Sixers needed the miracle shot by Covington after they blew a 24-point lead over the Timberwolves and were looking at heading into overtime. The Sixers were able to seal the win with Covington's miracle shot. The Sixers top players of the game on Tuesday night were up and coming rookie Joel Embiid with 25 points, and Ersan Ilyasova with 19 points. The Sixers will face the Celtics next this Friday.

Sixers up and coming rookie Center Joel Embiid was named the Eastern Conference rookie of the month for the second straight month. Embiid was also named rookie of the month for October/November. Embiid leads the rookies in the NBA in scoring (averaging 19.8 points per game) and rebounds (6.8 per game). Embiid also leads the way with 2.4 blocks per game, as well as making 78.1% of his 73 free throws. Embiid also posted a career high 33 points and 10 rebounds during a Sixers win against the Brooklyn Nets. Voting has begun for the NBA All-Star Game and many fans are making a strong push to get Embiid on the ticket for the Eastern Conference team.

Former Philadelphia Eagles Safety Brian Dawkins has been named one of the 15 finalists to be put into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2017. The is the first year Dawkins is eligible to be nominated for the Hall of Fame. Dawkins started his career on the Eagles as a second round pick out of Clemson University in the 1996 NFL Draft. Dawkins helped the team's defense for 13 seasons, and lead the Eagles with 183 games played, as well as 34 interceptions. Former Eagles Wide Receiver Terrell Owens was also named a finalist for the 2017 Hall of Fame.
