It has now been 174 days since the Sixers signed Ben Simmons, the No. 1 overall draft pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Simmons got some playing time over the summer on the Sixers summer league team, but has yet to put on the uniform for an official game due to fracture in his right foot he sustained on the last day of training camp. Sixers coach Brett Brown stated that there is no set time of when Simmons will be ready to officially play, but they hope it can be sometime in January. Simmons showed up to practice on Wednesday, but this time without his supportive boot. Simmons had his sneakers on and was practicing shooting free throws. Since Simmons has been out of commission with his foot, Coach Brown has been tutoring Simmons to develop his on-court game.

The Flyers face the Avalanche Wednesday night and will try to extend their win streak to 10 games, which could be the longest win streak since 1985. The Flyers current nine-game win streak has bumped the Flyers up to 18-10-3, making them third in the Metropolitan Division, and has moved them past their mediocre start to the season. The Flyers have lost defenseman Mark Streit for two weeks now due to a shoulder injury, but another Flyers defenseman is moving back onto the roster for Wednesday night's matchup. Shayne Gostisbehere will be back on the roster after missing a game due to a hand injury. Flyers Head Coah Dave Hakstol stated "I don't think anyone in here is distracted by anything. We're trying to build. We're trying to do anything we can every night to get points with a goal in mind. That's what it's all about."

The Eagles have now decided to sign running back Byron Marshall off of their practice squad to their roster after rookie RB Wendell Smallwood is out with a right knee injury, and RB Darren Sproles is out going through routine concussion protocol due to a questionable impact with Redskins' Deshavor Everett on Sunday. Byron Marshall is an undrafted rookie from Oregon who has been on the practice squad the entire season. Offensive Coordinator Frank Reich stated that Marshall has been very impressive on the scout team. Reich said "I'm not sure what action he'll see, but I can just tell you, watching scout team this whole year, if you took the 10 most eye-popping 'wow' plays on the field this year, Byron might have three or four of them, where he's running scout team and he runs a route or he makes a cut against our defense that (makes you) go, 'Whoa!' We'll look at each other and say, 'That was legit.' So he's got some explosiveness and elusiveness to him." The next game for the Eagles is this Sunday against the Ravens.
