Jill Stein in Philly Federal Court; Main Line Woman Selling Drugs; Death Sentence for Philly Man

Lawyers for former Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein appeared in federal court in Philadelphia on Friday afternoon petitioning for a recount of Pennsylvania's election results. In the face of the state's Tuesday deadline to certify the results, her lawyers are requesting a statewide hand recount of ballots and forensic analysis of electronic voting machines. They called an election security expert, Alex Halderman, to testify. He said there was a "significant possibility of a cyber attack" of election machines, but also said that is "more likely polls were wrong about the surprising result." Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science professor Michael Shamos was called by the State Attorney General’s Office. He called scenarios of Russian hacking offered by Stein's lawyers "were as likely as androids from outer space living among us, passing themselves off as humans." U.S. District Judge Paul S. Diamond said he would come up with a ruling by first thing on Monday. He was concerned that the request was made with almost not time before the deadline.

A woman who admitted to selling drugs from her Main Line home was sentenced on Friday. 62-year-old Lynne Twaddle of Tredyffrin Township was sentenced to 90 days in prison and seven years probation. She was also accepted into recovery court. After prison, Twaddle will enter an in-patient drug treatment program, followed by a stay in a halfway house before going home. She was arrested in July of 2015 for selling heroin to an undercover officer out of her home in Wayne. She was charged with drug possession, possession with intent to deliver and related offenses.

A Philadelphia man who was convicted on December 1st of beating and stabbing 3 men, tying them up, and dumping them into the Schuylkill River was sentenced on Friday. Two of those men died, while one was able to pull himself out of the river and get help. A jury gave 44-year-old Tam Le two death penalties. Vu "Kevin" Huynh, 31, and his brother Viet Huynh, 28, both of Paoli were killed on August 26, 2014. Their friend, Tan Voong, managed to get out of the river early on the 27th. The motive was an unpaid drug/gambling debt related to the Vietnamese gang.
