A rookie New Jersey state trooper was killed last night in the line of duty in a head-on collision on on Rt. 55 in Millville, Cumberland County. The crash happened just before 7 p.m. near milepost 22.2. 31-year-old Trooper Frankie Williams of Atlantic County was traveling northbound while responding to a call of an erratic driver. A man driving a Toyota Corolla traveling southbound crossed the grassy median and struck the cruiser head-on. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Williams was flown to Cooper University Hospital where he later died. Trooper Williams was a member of the 156th State Police Class, graduating January 29, 2016. He was assigned to the Port Norris Station. The other driver has been identified as 61-year-old Lloyd Rudley of Elmer, New Jersey. The crash is still under investigation.

Philadelphia police have made an arrest in connection to the shooting of a 14-year-old boy in Mayfair last week. A 19-year-old suspect turned himself into the Homicide division Tuesday afternoon. He will be identified after questioning and processing is complete. The shooting happened on the 6200 block of Brous Street around 9pm on Monday, November 28th. 14-year-old Ian Wilsey and his 16-year-old friend were walking to a store when two men approached them with guns. The boys started to run and one of the men started firing. Wilsey was hit three times. He was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale where he died. His friend was not injured.

Federal prosecutors are seeking a 17 - 21 year prison sentence for convicted former Pennsylvania Congressman Chaka Fattah. Fattah was found guilty of racketeering this year in various loan and fraud schemes. The defense has not yet filed their sentencing brief. The sentencing hearing is set for next Monday.
