Hit-and-Run Suspect Identified, New Area Code's For Philly, Obama Speaks Out About Trump Victory

Police have now identified a suspect that is responsible for a hit-and-run accident that took place in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, which injured two police officers. 31-year-old Allen Terrell has been put into police custody for the incident. Police say the hit-and run took place on the 6200 block of Godfrey Street Tuesday night, when Terrell was pulled over in a routine traffic stop. When police found out he had a suspended license, Terrell fled the scene is his car, eventually crashing into a police cruiser at 21st and Conlyn Streets. Both officers were taken to Einstein Medical Center and are said to be in stable condition. Terrell is being charged with aggravated assault, as well as other related charges.

The Pennsylvania Utility Commission released a statement on Wednesday, stating that citizens in Philadelphia should expect a change in area codes by the year 2019. The commission stated that the supply of area codes that are servicing the Philadelphia area are expected to run out in a couple of years. When this happens, an approved plan by the commission will come into effect to get new area codes for those in the service area. It is unknown of what that new area could will be for the affected areas. The commission stated that it has been more than 15 years since Philadelphia has seen a new area code.

President Obama has now spoken out about Trump's presidential victory. In a speech he gave this afternoon, Obama stated that he is ready to welcome Trump into the White House, to ensure a "successful transition between our presidencies." Obama also acknowledged the disappointment of those across the country who had voted for Hillary Clinton, or other third party candidates, but stated that it is time for us as a nation to come together. Obama had also called Trump on Wednesday afternoon to congratulate him on his victory, and to invite him to The White House to meet on Thursday. This would be the first time President Obama, and President Elect Donald Trump meet face to face.
