Punkin Chunkin' Explosion, Philly Files for SEPTA Injunction, Final Clinton Campaign Rally In Philly

A 39-year-old Delaware woman is now in critical condition after she was injured at an outdoor contest on Sunday. The incident occurred in Bridgeville about 30 miles south of Dover, at an annual Punkin Chunkin contest, in which contestants build homemade cannon-like contraptions to launch pumpkins. Officials say that the woman was injured when one of the cannons exploded, shooting a piece off that was the size of a car door. The woman was then taken to a local hospital by helicopter. The contest was then declared over after the incident. Another 56-year-old man was injured in the explosion, but is listed with non-life threatening injuries.

The City of Philadelphia has now filed for an injunction in PA state court on Sunday to hopefully put a stop to the now 6-day SEPTA strike, in order for Philly residents to get to the polls on Tuesday. SEPTA officials had requested an injunction on Friday to end the strike, but it was declined. Hearings on the issue will continue on Monday. Governor Tom Wolf released a statement on Sunday stating that he is in full support of an injunction from the city to end the SEPTA strike. City officials released a statement on Sunday stating "The City has a legal responsibility to ensure that Philadelphians can exercise their constitutional right to vote. Though there are extensive efforts to minimize the effect of any transit strike on Election Day, unquestionably, such an Election-Day strike will make it practically impossible for many Philadelphians to participate in this election."

With Election day now only one day away, the presidential candidates are doing their last minute campaigning around the country to talk with voters. Hillary Clinton has decided to make one last stop in Philadelphia on Monday to campaign. The event will be held at Independence Hall, and Clinton will not only be joined by her husband Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea, but also by President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The Clintons and Obamas will also be joined by music icons Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen, who will be performing at the rally. The event will begin at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 4:00pm. The Event Entrance is at Corner of 4th St. and Chestnut St. Road closures will begin at 10 a.m. Market Street: From 4th Street to 7th Street; 5th Street: Arch Street to Market Street; 6th Street: Arch Street to Chestnut Street. Expect longlines and parking problems.
