SEPTA workers voted on Sunday to authorize a strike beginning on November 1st if an agreement on a new contract isn't reached by the end of the month. The Transport Workers Union Local 234 represents 4,738 SEPTA bus drivers, subway and trolley operators. Members met on Sunday and overwhelmingly voted to authorize the strike. Negotiations began back on July 13 to renew the current contract that ends on October 31st. Many issues are on the table including health care, pension, wages, and safety. The members also voted 'no' to a possible extension. SEPTA said, "We remain hopeful as we work to bargain an agreement in the best interest of our employees, riders and the public." In addition to everyone's commute, a possible strike could effect the general election on November 8th. SEPTA's Regional Rail service would continue to operate. Those workers belong to a different union.

A woman was arrested on Sunday afternoon after throwing Pine-Sol in the face of a police officer. It happened around 2:30 pm at the Deptford Park Apartments on Pop Moylan Boulevard in Deptford, NJ. Officer Derek Mottershead was responding to a 911 hang up call. He spent several minutes speaking to the resident of the apartment, 56-year-old Glynis Henson, through the closed door. Henson suddenly opened the door and threw the cleaner in Mottershead face. After a brief struggle, she was placed under arrest. He was taken to Inspira Medical Center and released after receiving treatment. "The officer responded to assist as a result of the 911 call and then becomes the victim of an unprovoked assault. We will not tolerate any such attacks on our police officers who protect and serve the township. This will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Chief William Hanstein said. Henson is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.

Police are looking for two men wanted in a home invasion and shooting in Ridley Park, Delaware County. It happened Sunday evening in a house on Ward Street near Harrison street. The two suspects entered the home and then opened fire on the homeowner. They then fled the scene. The homeowner suffered a graze wound to his ear. He is expected to be ok.

Weather
