Philly Mail Center Fraud Accusations, Philly Plans to Regulate Smoking, Planes Clip Tips in Newark

The Philadelphia mail distribution center is now facing serious fraud accusations. The center was under video surveillance for the past 8 weeks without the employees knowing. The video caught two supervisors allegedly falsifying time sheets so they could receive thousands of dollars in overtime that they didn't earn. Officials have been investigating the city's mail center for months, and in an earlier investigation they found thousands of pieces of unprocessed mail sitting in the office.

The Philadelphia Health Department is now declaring a war on smoking and trying to regulate the amount of stores selling cigarettes in the city. Philadelphia's Health Commissioner stated that smoking is the number one killer in the city today. The Health Department wants to limit the amount of stores selling cigarettes in low income areas, as well as keeping the stores that sell cigarettes 500 feet away from schools. Mayor Jim Kenney is planning meetings to discuss the new regulations starting Wednesday, and hopes to put them in effect in the next year.

Officials are now investigating after two planes clipped wing tips at Newark Liberty International Airport on Tuesday. A Lufthansa flight and a United Airlines flight clipped right wing tips at around 5:23 pm. The United flight was taxiing on the runway after landing, when it hit the Lufthansa plane. Both planes were taxied to their gates after the crash. The FAA is planning to investigate the incident. No injuries were reported.

Weather

Today, Partly Cloudy, with a high of 68 degrees in Center City.
