AG Kane and Former Boyfriend in Court; Sunoco Pipeline Hearing; Eagles Preseason Opener

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane returned to the defense table and a former boyfriend who became her top deputy to the witness stand as Kane's perjury case resumed this morning. Government witness Adrian King is in for more cross-examination from Kane's lawyers. He and Kane dated in law school and years later he became her top deputy. Kane is accused of leaking secret grand jury documents to the press and lying about it under oath. But King now thinks Kane is trying to frame him for the leak. Authorities say she violated the state's grand jury laws and tarnished an NAACP official who was investigated but never charged.

A large crowd turned out at a public hearing Wednesday night at West Chester University to support and to oppose the contentious Mariner East 2 pipeline project. Sunoco wants to build the pipeline to transport liquid fuels like propane from the Marcellus Shale to a terminal in Marcus Hook. More than 200 people attended the hearing at the Sykes Student Union organized by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. About 40 people signed up to speak during the public comment section, with testimony evenly divided for and against the project.

Are you ready for some football? The Eagles play their first preseason game at 7 tonight, hosting the Tampa Bay Bucs at Lincoln Financial Field. Some vets will not be playing while new players try to earn a job. More than 20 new players could be on the field for the Eagles. New quarterback Carson Wentz is expected to play in the second half. New head coach Doug Pederson, a former quarterback and offensive coordinator will be calling the plays for his three quarterbacks. SEPTA will be running extra Broad Street subway trains. The temperature will be about 88 degrees at kickoff.
