Children's television pioneer W. Carter Merrier, better known as Captain Noah, passed away today at the age of 90. Merbreier and his wife Patricia created and hosted the long running children's show "Captain Noah and His Magical Ark" on Channel 6 from 1967 to 1994. Merbreier was an ordained Lutheran minister and former Philadelphia police chaplain and started the show as a religious program before turning into a strictly children's program in 1970. Generations of Philadelphians and those in syndicated markets remember the puppets, cartoons, and songs like "Send Your Pictures to Captain Noah" and "I Can Sing a Rainbow." Mrs. Noah passed away in 2011 at age 86.

A Burlington County, NJ, man shot his wife and son before turning the gun on himself on Monday night in Burlington Township. Police went to the family home on Sunflower Circle around 10:15 p.m. to perform a welfare check. They discovered the bodies of 50-year-old Ruben Johnson Jr., 48-year-old Mishanda, and their 10-year-old son. Their investigation determined that Ruben was the shooter. They are still investigating the motive.

The obstruction and perjury trial of Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane got underway today in Norristown with opening statements from both the prosecution and defense. The prosecution said Kane was motivated by revenge. They described why she leaked secret grand jury information and then lied about it. The defense said the feud is made up and that the top prosecutor wouldn't risk her position over a staff lawyer. The trial is expected to take about a week.

Sports
Eagles OT Lane Johnson could be suspended 10 games for a performance enhancing drug violation. This is his second violation. He will be appealing.

Tonight,
Partly Cloudy, temperatures in the low 80's/upper 70's this evening in Center City
