Pennsylvania Girl Suffers Monkey Bite; The Danger of Left-Hand Turns; Man Shot in Kingsessing

A 9-year-old Pennsylvania girl, visiting Virginia Beach, suffered a monkey bite Wednesday evening. Authorities say the child was in a tourist area only a block from the beach around the time of 10:30 p.m. when she came saw a monkey who later bit her. After biting her, both the monkey and its owner took off. Police are still looking for the monkey and its owner and are offering a reward up to $1,000 for information that could possibly lead to them.

The New York City Department of Transportation recently conducted a study and found left-hand turns to be more dangerous than right-hand turns. NYC DOT's report, "Don't Cut Corners," provides information about pedestrians and bike riders and how they are severely injured by left-turning vehicles three times the rate of those hit by a right-turning vehicle.

A 43-year-old man is now recovering after being shot yesterday night. Gunfire erupted in the Kingsessing section of a Philadelphia apartment at 10:18 p.m. Police entered the scene and found the victim in the second-floor bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound to his stomach. He is now in stable condition.
