Actress, writer, and comedian Tina Fey will receive this year's Lew Klein Excellence in the Media award given by Temple University's School of Media and Communication. Fey is an Upper Darby native most known for her work on TV shows Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock as well as writing the film Mean Girls and TV series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Earlier this year, Tina and her brother Peter, created a scholarship at Temple in their late father Donald's name. The scholarship helps returning veterans pursue journalism degrees. Donald and Peter Fey are both alumni of SMC. The award ceremony will be held October 7th.

Philadelphia Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy in the Cobbs Creek neighborhood earlier this month as he and his friends were walking home from a basketball game. Police took the 16-year-old suspect into custody on a warrant at his home. They are still looking for another 16-year-old suspect. It happened on July 11th near 60th Street and Baltimore Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia. Three teens were ambushed and shot on their way home. The other two teens were hit in an arm and a leg and were treated, but Tyhir Barnes was shot in the face and died. Police believe it may have stemmed from an argument over the outcome of the game.
