Excessive Heat Warning; Tropical Water at Jersey Shore; Villanova Snubbed at ESPY's

Hazy, hot and humid conditions across the Philadelphia region are the reason an excessive heat warning is in effect now through 8pm Friday the entire region. Officials advise limiting outdoor activity and drink plenty of water.

If you've been down to the shore over the past week, you probably noticed how clear the water is. A rare weather phenomenon is creating almost tropical-like ocean conditions. Weather experts say it's due to a perfect storm of perfect conditions. A bloom of phytoplankton seen from a NASA satellite is responsible for the color of the water. And a recent drought limiting river run off is making the ocean clearer than normal-- making the Atlantic more like the Caribbean.

Villanova was snubbed last night on the ESPY's, ESPN's sports awards show. Nova was nominated for best team, best coach, best game and best play - and went home empty-handed. Afterward, Villanova's Ryan Archidiacono pointed out on Twitter '@BIGEAST @NovaMBB always get disrespected, probably lost that one because we proudly rep @FOXSports and don't play on @espn.'

Philadelphia Weather
Hazy, hot and humid today. Excessive heat warning. 94 in Center City.
