A recent graduate from West Catholic Preparatory High School in Philadelphia is among the fatal victims of Sunday's massacre in Orlando. 18-year-old Akyra Murray of West Philadelphia had travelled to Florida with her family following graduation last week. She went to Pulse Nightclub with her cousin and a friend on Saturday night. Murray was one of the 49 killed by Omar Mateen when he opened fire inside the club early Sunday morning. Murray graduated near the top of her class and was an All-Catholic and 1,000 point scorer on the basketball team. She was headed to Mercyhurst University to play basketball in the fall. A vigil is being planned for Wednesday.

A 20-year-old college student from Philadelphia is one of the casualties from Sunday's massacre in Orlando. Patience Carter was at Pulse Nightclub early on Sunday morning and was shot in the leg. She is expected to be ok and is in stable condition. Carter attended University City High and is now enrolled at New York University. She was at the nightclub with her friend, Akrya Murray, who was shot and killed during the attack. Murray had just graduated from West Catholic and was on vacation with her family.

The man who threw a beer bottle at Philadelphia Phillies' first baseman Ryan Howard turned himself in to police on Friday. 21-year-old Sidney Smith of Wilmington, DE, was issued a Summary Citation for Disorderly Conduct and released. Smith had thrown the bottle towards Howard at the end of the game on June 4th but did not hit him. An image of him taken a moment after the incident spread through social media.
