A South Jersey singer who rose to fame on NBC's "The Voice" was shot and killed on Friday night after giving a concert in Orlando, FL. 22-year-old Christina Grimmie from Evesham Township, NJ, was signing autographs during a meet-and-greet at the merchandise table inside The Plaza Live venue after a show with the band Before You Exit. Around 100 were in attendance. The attacker, identified as 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl of St. Petersburg, FL (pictured below), approached the singer carrying two handguns and a hunting knife. After shooting Christina he was tackled by her brother, Marcus, and then shot and killed himself. She was rushed to the hospital but later died. Police believe that Loibi traveled to Orlando specifically to kill Grimmie. Authorities are investigating his specific motive.

Grimmie attended Cherokee High School in Marlton, NJ. Her star began to rise during her teen years, amassing YouTube views on her covers of popular songs. Her cover of Adele's "Hello" has over 3.5 million. This attention led to her touring with Selena Gomez and a spot auditioning on "The Voice". She finished third on the sixth-season of the show in 2014 competing on Adam Levine's team. Grimmie recently performed in Philadelphia at The Filmore as support for Before You Exit's "All The Lights" tour.
