Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane announced today at a press conference in Scranton that she will not be seeking re-election, but will be serving out her current term. She said that she wants to spend more time with her two sons, ages 13 and 15. Kane did not mention the criminal charges she's facing for leaking grand jury information and lying about it. She also did not reference her suspended law license or the pending impeachment proceedings in the PA House. Kane said her goals in obtaining the AG's office were to root out corruption and shake up the 'good-old-boys network.' Today was the deadline to file nomination petitions to appear on April's primary ballot. It is not known if Kane had acquired the requisite signatures, though she says polls had her double digits ahead of the other democrats. Montgomery County commissioner Josh Shapiro, Northampton County DA John Morgnaelli and Allegheny County DA Steven Zappala are left for the Democratic nomination. Montgomery County State Senator John Rafferty is the Republican candidate.

The Lehigh County coroner has determined that an unidentified woman whose body was discovered in a recycling bin over the weekend died from gun shot wounds. The woman was discovered inside a bag stuffed into a large blue recycling behind an apartment complex on the 800 block of East Tilghman Street in Allentown around 2:30 pm Sunday. She had multiple gun shot wounds and her death has been ruled a homicide. The woman is described as Asian, 18-30 years old, 5' 1", 119 lbs, short black hair. She was wearing black dress pants and a green sweater with a white collar and white cuffs, black-and-white Nike sneakers and a silver necklace. If you have any information contact Allentown Police Department at 610-437-7721.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie presented a $34.8 billion budget to a joint session of state legislature today. The new budget does not call for any new taxes. One big provision increases funding for the state employees' pension fund. The Transportation Trust Fund was left out of the budget despite some warnings that it will run out of money by the summer. Christie said they will work on it separately. The governor, fresh off recusing himself from the Presidential campaign trail, reminded lawmakers that he still has two years left to govern and wants to work with them. Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald said "I'm encouraged by what I've heard for the first time in a long time, a willingness to work together and an acknowledgement of the things we’ve done in the past."

Tonight,
Partly Cloudy, temperatures in the low 40s/upper 30s this evening in Center City
