The SS United States may sail again. That's the word from New York today as Crystal Cruises, a luxury travel company, signed a purchase option for the ship. Crystal will pay the roughly $60,000 per month it costs to keep the historic ship docked in South Philadelphia as it conducts a nine-month feasibility study. They hope to exercise the option to buy the ship and reburbish it to it former glory. Crystal estimates it could take $700 million to $800 million to renovate the ship, but that would be less than starting from scratch. Time will tell if it is possible.

Philadelphia hip hop star Meek Mill, aka Robert Williams, talked to a group of high school seniors today in West Philadelphia. He is set to be sentenced tomorrow for a repeat violation of his probation stemming from a drug and gun conviction in 2009. Meek Mill talked to boys at Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia Charter School. His message to them was to work hard and stay focused on the right things and ignore the distractions of the streets. Unfortunately, he hasn't completely followed his own advice. In December, Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley ruled that he had violated his parole again and ordered him to stay in the city until his sentencing hearing tomorrow. Mill has made the time to put in some service and charity work like today's talk while stuck here. We will see if that helps his case on Friday.
