Good Samaritans in Bucks County caught and held a man after he allegedly attacked a woman with a knife and tried to rob her. It happened Saturday afternoon at the Queen Anne Plaza Shopping Center on South Oxford Valley Road in Fairless Hills. A man armed with a knife attempted to steal a woman's purse. She fought back and he took off running. Three men who witnessed the attack chased him down and tackled him in a bank of snow near the Arby's. They held him there until police from Bristol Township and Tullytown Borough arrived to place him under arrest. 62-year-old George Blackwell of Levittown is charged with simple assault, aggravated assault, theft, robbery and related offenses. Part of the incident was captured on video by a witness. Watch the video below:

A juvenile has been charged in connection to a threat made to a high school in Cherry Hill, NJ. A threatening text message targeting Cherry Hill High School East began circulating on social media on Sunday. Police were tipped off to the message by members of the community and tracked down its origins. The juvenile has been charged with one count of making a false public alarm. The school has been checked and there will be an increased police presence at the school on Monday. The following letter was sent out to members of the Cherry Hill East community on Sunday:

January 31, 2016

Dear East Community,

On Sunday, January 31, 2016, the administration and the Cherry Hill Police were notified about a threatening text message involving Cherry Hill High School East that was being circulated in social media. The origin of the message was pursued by the police department's investigative unit and at this time a juvenile has been charged with one count of "making a false public alarm." The police have checked the school and they will be monitoring the area around the school during the overnight.

There will be an increased presence by the Cherry Hill Police at High School East, along with our regular Campus Police and school security staff, tomorrow, February 1, 2016.

I am grateful to the individuals who contacted the Cherry Hill Police Department and the High School East administration. Anyone with information regarding threats is asked to call the Cherry Hill Police Department at (856) 488-7828. The men and women of our police force are consistently swift and thorough in responding to issues that affect our schools and our children.

I urge everyone to be very cautious and to be thoughtful prior to posting anything on social media. The ramifications of our words, written and spoken, are long reaching.

Please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Chapman if you have any additional questions.

Sincerely,

Joseph Meloche, Ed.D.
Superintendent, Cherry Hill Public Schools

Falls Bridge over the Schuylkill River in East Falls will close starting Monday for a construction project. The 120-year-old bridge connects Kelly Drive at Calumet Street to Martin Luther King Drive at Neill Drive. This is a rehabilitation project seeking to strengthen the existing steel floor beams and connections to the road deck. During construction the bridge will be open to pedestrian traffic for runners and bikers. There will be detour signs set up, most likely pointing traffic to use the City Ave. bridge. Officials expect the bridge to be closed until April 1st.
