The Blizzard of 2016 was one for the record books. The official number at the Philadelphia International Airport was 22.4 inches, making this the 4th largest snowfall in Philadelphia history. The two feet of snow around the region calls for a lot of shoveling, plowing, and snow blowing. Down the shore many towns are dealing with historic flooding and beach erosion that may rival Hurricane Sandy's damage. Snow emergencies are still in effect so don't park on those routes yet (Philadelphia's ended at 10 pm Sunday). SEPTA has brought back some services, but Regional Rail remained suspended on Sunday. The PPA will not enforce meters or time limit violations on Monday, but will enforce/ticket safety violations. The $5 Center City garages have been extended to Tuesday at 7 a.m. All Philadelphia public and archdiocesan schools are closed Monday. All Philadelphia trash and recycling collections for Monday have been cancelled; residents should hold it until next Monday. The PA turnpike has reopened out west where hundreds were stranded for over 24 hours including the Temple University gymnastics squad. Over a dozen deaths have been attributed to the storm, mostly from traffic accidents or shoveling.
