Upper Darby police shot and killed a man outside of his apartment on Tuesday night during a violent confrontation. Police responded to a call at the Bishop Hill Apartments located at 151 E. Bishop Avenue at 7:10 p.m. 54-year-old David Zollo was threatening suicide. When officers arrived, Zollo was outside in the parking lot with a knife. He threatened officers and moved towards them. After being hit with a Taser, he still continued towards the officers. They opened fire, hitting him a dozen times. Zollo has been hospitalized at least 5 times since 2007 for mental illness and police have responded to similar calls at his home multiple times. The Upper Darby police and Delaware County District Attorney are conducting separate investigations. Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood says this was "suicide by cop." The officers involved will receive counseling and return to duty when ready.

The homeless couple whose 2-year-old son was discovered wandering barefoot in LOVE Park back in October has had their housing and charity donations rescinded for failing to follow judges orders. Mike Jones’ and Angelique Roland’s son Jeremiah was found walking in the park late at night. The couple (along with a 4-year-old daughter) decided to spend the night in the park after being kicked out of a home. Chosen 300 Ministries raised $12,000 to help find the family a new home and pay rent for a year. However, CHOSEN says the couple refuses to change. They have missed child custody hearings, failed drug tests, resisted counseling, and rejected services. The children remain with DHS. CHOSEN has decided to end the lease on the home and put the money in an educational fund for the children. The couple is now refusing to leave the home.

Police are investigating after skeletal remains were discovered in Kensington this morning. The human skeletal remains were discovered on a vacant lot on the 400 block of East Cambria Street around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday. It is unclear if they are male or female. Investigators are working to determine how they got there and long they have been there. They are trying to identify the deceased person.
