Allentown police are searching for a 5-year-old autistic boy that went missing on New Year's Eve during a holiday party at a relative's house. 5-year-old Jayliel Vega disappeared around 11 p.m. on Thursday evening from his great aunt's home near S. Aubrey Street and E. South Street on the East Side. He was not wearing a coat, socks, or shoes. Vega is 50-60 lbs, brown hair, brown eyes, 3.5 - 4' tall. He was wearing a long sleeve camouflage shirt and green pants. Vega is non-verbal and scared of strangers. Police are asking residents to check and re-check their properties including porches, sheds, outdoor crawl-spaces, etc. If you see the child call police 610-437-7751.

UPDATE 1/2/16 6pm: The body of a missing Jayliel Vega was found in a canal this afternoon. Today, a volunteer found the boy's tablet near the Lehigh canal. Divers searched the waters and discovered the body of the boy. Authorities are treating this as a tragic accident. There will be an autopsy on Monday.

UPDATE: Dozens of officers along with a multitude of volunteers have been searching the neighborhood as well as the woods and areas near the Lehigh River. Search dogs, drones, and two police helicopters have also been deployed throughout the day Friday. Allentown Police are asking that residents stay out of the woods for their own safety in the dark and to also preserve any scent trails for the K9 units. The search continues into the night. Two people were arrested during protests during the annual New Year's Day Mummers Parade in Center City Philadelphia today. A 45-year-old man was charged with disorderly conduct. A 34-year-old woman was charged with disrupting a procession. The demonstrations included multiple groups including Black Lives Matter and the Coalition for REAL Justice. The crowd of 50-100 people gathered near 15th and Market for around 2 hours. They were calling attention to police shootings, public school funding, and higher minimum wage.

Songstress Natalie Cole, daughter of legend Nat King Cole, passed away today at age 65. Her 1991 album Unforgettable... with Love garnered multiple Grammy's including Record, Album, and Song of the Year. It featured covers of adult standards made famous by her father including the virtual duet of 'Unforgettable.' She died Thursday evening at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles due to complications from liver disease, a kidney transplant and Hepatitis C. Cole blamed intravenous drug use early in life with the contraction of Hepatitis.
