Trial Starts Today for Kathryn Knott; Meek Mill in Philly Court on Probation Hearing w/ Nicki Minaj

The trial for 25-year-old Kathryn Knott in the Center City group attack on a gay couple started today in Philadelphia. Knott is accused of "slinging slurs" and throwing punches when her group of friends encountered a gay couple while out of the town near Rittenhouse Square last year. Knott's lawyer says that his client never touched the victims and that things went bad when one of their female friends was hit and a male friend rushed the victims. Prosectors say she rushed in as well instead of staying away. Philip Williams and Kevin Harrigan pled guilty earlier this year to the attack and received 3-5 years probation and community service. Knott faces years of jail time if convicted.

Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill (aka Robert Williams) was in court today on another probation violation and his girlfriend/fiance rapper Nicki Minaj was there to testify on his behalf. The violation stems from a 2009 drug and gun conviction and subsequent probation. Past violations have sent him back to jail, most recently last year. One of the stipulations is that any travel outside of Philadelphia must be approved beforehand by the judge. Well apparently his trip last month to Los Angeles for the American Music Awards (AMAs) where he appeared with Minaj was not on the approved list.

Party cloudy, temperatures in the low 50s/upper 40s this evening in Center City.
