A Russian warplane was shot down by Turkey this morning. Turkish officials claim it had violated Turkish airspace and ignored repeated warnings. Russia denied that the plane crossed the Syrian border into Turkish skies. Russia claims the plane was over the Syrian territory throughout the flight. One pilot parachuted from the plane however photos have surfaced of a Russian pilot, possibly dead, surrounded by Syrian rebels.

A federal judge has found that Charter school founder Dorothy June Brown suffers from Alzheimer's-like dementia and is incompetent to be retried on fraud charges. Yesterday Judge R. Barclay Surrick granted a motion from the U.S. attorney and dismissed the indictment charging that Brown had defrauded the schools she founded of $6.3 million. 78 year old Brown founded three small charter schools in Philadelphia and a cyber school in the suburbs. She had been charged with scheming to defraud the schools and conspiring with four other administrators to cover up the alleged crimes.

A travel alert, which is to be in effect until Feb. 24, said current information suggests that terrorist groups continue to plan attacks in multiple US regions.
