There was another terrorist attack today in Africa. Three people were killed and 170 hostages taken. It unfolded this morning at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bamako. Assailants took hostages in a brazen assault involving grenades and high powered assault rifles. There are reports that some of the hostages were released after they were able to recite passages from the Quran. Security forces have helped a few others escape.

"Sex and the City" star Kim Cattrall has withdrawn from playing the title role in "Linda" on the London stage due to an unspecified health problem. She had been set to star in the production at the Royal Court Theatre starting Nov. 26 but will be replaced by an understudy. Cattrall said in a statement Thursday evening that "with great sadness" she is following the advice of her doctors. She thanked the theater for allowing her to put her health first. The 59-year-old Cattrall is best known for her portrayal of the lusty Samantha in the hit "Sex and the City" series on HBO.

A plumbing contractor was killed in a strange, on the job accident in West Philadelphia. Police say the 27-year-old man was working in an excavated area near 63rd and Market Streets around 8 p.m. Thursday. A vehicle then lost control and fell into the hole. The worker was crushed and died at the scene, police say. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. The cause is under investigation.
