Mayor Nutter Notes Domestic Terrorism; New Terror Threat; Casino Plans Advance

Mayors from across the country attended the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington yesterday. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter was just one of the Mayors who talked about terrorism. In fact all acknowledged the tragedy in Paris that killed 129 people and injured 350 others. Nutter called gun violence in American cities "domestic terrorism" that is no different from international terrorism.

Islamic State warned in a new video on Monday that countries taking part in air strikes against Syria would suffer the same fate as France, and threatened to attack in Washington. The video begins with news footage of the aftermath of Friday's Paris shootings in which 129 people were killed. The message to countries involved in what it called the "crusader campaign" was delivered by a man dressed in fatigues and a turban, and identified in subtitles as Al Ghareeb the Algerian.

Plans to build a casino in South Philadelphia took another step forward amid allegations that one of the developers has discriminated against black patrons. Councilman William Greenlee, chairman of the committee that approved the bills, 8-0, said support for the developer from the city's NAACP and a local organization of black clergy was pivotal to the decision. The group plans to build a $450 million casino complex at the site of the current Holiday Inn at Ninth Street and Packer Avenue.
