Philadelphia Police are investigating after the body of a girl was recovered from the Delaware River this morning. Police were called to Delaware and Linden Avenues in the Torresdale section of Northeast Philadelphia around 11:15 a.m. The Philadelphia Police Marine Unit found an unresponsive Hispanic girl on the river bank near the Linden Avenue boat ramp. The body of the juvenile was taken to the medical examiner's office for identification. The investigation continues.

UPDATE: Family members of missing 14-year-old Pamela Flores were contacted by police. She went missing on October 27th. Her backpack and cell phone were found near the Tacony Palmyra bridge and divers searched the river but did not find anything. The family is expected to go to the ME's office on Thursday. No positive identification has been made.

The staffs at the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News and Philly.com were hit by major layoff notifications as new publisher Terry Egger moves forward with his plans to consolidate newsrooms and cut costs. 46 staffers will lose their positions (effective December 4th) but the Daily News and philly.com are taking the biggest hit - 17 of 29 from philly.com, 17 of 60 from Daily News, and 12 of roughly 200 from the Inquirer. Egger hopes the cuts will save Philadelphia Media Network $6 million over the next three years. He has not said how a combined newsroom would work or how it would effect content across the three publications.

PSPCA Humane Law Enforcement Officers are asking the public's help in the theft and gruesome death of a pit bull. A female pit bull and her puppies were stolen from the yard of a home on 5200 block of North Marvine Street in the Olney section on Tuesday. Wednesday evening, the mother pit bull was discovered hanging by her lease on the fence of the same property. The puppies are still missing. Anyone with information is urged to call the PSPCA's cruelty hotline, 866-601-SPCA.

Tonight,
Clear skies, temperatures in the mid/low 60's this evening in Center City
