Rare Identical Triplets Born; Jury Duty Scam; Voting Lottery to Award 10,000.00

Triplets are rare. Identical triplets are almost unheard of (pictured). But a Baltimore couple gave birth to identical triplets earlier this month. Tom and Kristen Hewitt welcomed identical triplets to the world on October 6 at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Thomas III (Trip), Finnegan (Finn) and Oliver (Ollie) Dean were born by C-section at 33 ½ weeks old. All of the boys weighed in between three and five pounds. How rare is this? Experts say the odds of having identical triplets range from one in 60,000 to one in 200 million births. The parents say they were conceived without any fertility treatments. Doctors say the triplets were born in excellent condition.

Somebody is calling residents in Chester and Montgomery counties and telling them they face arrest because they failed to report to jury duty. Chester County Sheriff Carolyn Welsh says it's a scam. The caller tells the person a warrant has been issued for their arrest. They are instructed to buy money cards and provide the numbers to avoid detention. The sheriff says anyone who receives such a call should hang up and not provide any information.

Paying people to vote is at least unethical. However a new lottery scheme in Philadelphia is designed to incentivize more people to get out to the polls. Philadelphia residents who vote on November 3rd may collect $10,000 from the backer, online magazine, Philadelphia Citizen. The plan calls for randomly selecting a polling place, then awarding the first voter there $10,000.
