Former Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon will sit out the rest of the season. The Washington Nationals announced they have suspended Papelbon for four games without pay for his role in a dugout incident during which he choked teammate and National League MVP front-runner Bryce Harper. The team suspension will kick in on Thursday after Papelbon first serves a three-game suspension that was levied by MLB.

At City Hall press conferences yesterday, Mayor Michael Nutter and Archbishop Charles Chaput declared their pride in the city in the wake of the visit from the Vatican. Pope Francis and visitors from around the world saw Philadelphia at its best. Nutter criticized the media for scaring Philadelphians, keeping them away, but then apologized after recognizing that he too, contributed with his comments about preparing to walk for miles.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane can remain the state's highest law enforcement official even with a suspended law license, Pennsylvania's top jurist said Monday. Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas G. Saylor said the high court's decision to suspend Kane's license "is in no way constitutionally disabling." He said Kane remains a member of the bar in Pennsylvania - a requirement, under the state constitution, for anyone to be attorney general.
