Pope Francis will get a special hand-made gift when he visits Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on Sept. 27 as part of his trip to Philadelphia. There he will meet with 100 inmates from throughout the Philadelphia Prison System and their families. About a dozen inmates in the carpentry division of PhilaCor, the prison's job-skills program, will present the pope with a 6-foot walnut chair they are building from scratch. Some of the men barely know how to work a tape measure, but during their time in prison, have learned a trade.

IndyCar driver Justin Wilson has died from a head injury suffered when a piece of debris struck him at Pocono Raceway. Wilson is a British driver who lived outside Denver in Longmont, Colorado. He was hit in the head during Sunday's race by piece of debris that had broken off another car. Wilson's car veered into an interior wall at the track, and he was swiftly taken by helicopter to Lehigh Valley hospital in Allentown. Justin Wilson was 37.

A Northeast Philadelphia mom may be homeschooling her 8-year-old this year. Her daughter, Shayne Coleman, a successful child actress, was the subject of a threat scrawled on a wall inside John Hancock School just before classes ended in June. The message stated, "I will kill Shayne Coleman – murder." After officials found the alleged perpetrator - a girl in Shayne's second-grade class - Coleman asked to have the girl transferred out of Hancock, but the district said no. Coleman’s mother says Shayne is afraid to go back to school and is suffering from PTSD.
